Janine Boyer Photography & Animation

ABOUT

I am a photographer. My site contains a selection of the art projects that I have worked on over the past two years and examples of community projects I have led or assisted on.

In my personal work I explore representation and what it means to be a women, and how we are perceived. I am also interested in ideas surrounding the authenticity of photographs, what is considered 'real' and their vulnerability to interpretation. My work is typically constructed although in my current work I am exploring the found.

I facilitate collaborative community projects that empower people to find a voice through photography and animation. I am currently running a series of animation workshops for Treehouse, a national charity for autism education, together with Rosie Holmes. I am also running a photographic project for women affected by substance misuse, commissioned by the Brighton Photo Fringe and The Oasis Project in Brighton to be shown in the Autumn Festival. I have just finished a 7 month graduate internship with Photoworks where I supported Viewfinder, an online arts project for young people led by Photoworks, Lighthouse and the Brighton Photo Biennial and facilitated by artist Marianne Holm Hansen. I recently assisted international artist, Rinko Kawauchi, who has been commissioned by Photoworks to respond to Brighton; the resulting work will be shown in a key note exhibition at the Brighton Photo Biennial in October 2010. I am also Treasurer and a Board Member of the Brighton Photo Fringe
